Newborns do not yet have fully developed immune systems, making them particularly vulnerable to infections. Because of this, anyone who is around babies should be up to date on all routine vaccines, including:

  • Whooping cough vaccine (DTaP for children and Tdap for preteens, teens, and adults)

  • Flu vaccine during flu season

5 RULES

1. Please don’t kiss the baby.
Babies are particularly vulnerable to respiratory illnesses and HSV/RSV.

Their immune systems are not equipped to handle fighting off these illnesses the way children and adults can. No kissing of the hands or feet either, since babies will put their hands and feet in their mouths.

Kissing is only allowed from 6 months onward.

2. Please wash your hands / sanitise before holding or touching the baby.

3. Please don’t wear perfume or any strong scents.

4. Please don’t show up unannounced.

5. Please do not post any photos or videos on social media.
